Total film/Empire
I notice that total film use very bold fonts and can be seen as quite cluttered but in a good way. They use a lot of graphics on their magazine to attract the audience as well puff words like "FIRSR LOOK" and "WORL EXCLUSIVE". They use a film stripe type convention sometimes but it is mainly cover lines. They are very strict with colour scheme and they adjust it to what is being featured on the magazine. I also notice that the masthead is always behind the image, this make the character stand out more. I believe that Total Film audience is a lot younger than empire which is why they use a lot of graphics. I feel like Total film does feature a lot of horror films which is why we didn't use them for our trailer.
Empire has more of a dark look to it some of their from covers don't have a lot of text on it and some do. They use puff words like PLUS! and EXCLUSIVE To get the audience attention they also use incentives like FREE POSTER of people favourite films. Empire masthead is always centered and usually the bigger text on there following the main feature (the film name) they use some graphics but not as much as Total Film, i believe this could be because their target audience is slightly older than them. Empire colour scheme is usually red I believe this is because their masthead is red and white and this is convenient for them.

Exploring shot types and sizes
When filming we wanted to make sure we get a range of shots which is why we looked at existing trailers and used them as influences.
